Question 1 - In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Developed in My Products
Digipak
BackgroundI challenged the normal backgrounds for the covers by using images of the artist. In the research I did, none of them used actual images of the artist, however when I did my surveys, people said they wanted to see images of the artist on the Digipak. So therefore, I decided to challenge this slightly and use the images of the artist.
I have also challenged the back cover, by including smaller images of the artist here as well. I thought these looked good, and filled a boring gap on the page. So therefore it is also developing the normal. |
TextI challenged the idea of having the artist's name and album title together and near to equal sizes/fonts. I decided to have the album title how it was in my research, large, bold and near the centre of the cover. However, I made the artist's name much smaller, and put it to one side at the bottom. This is due to the fact that I felt it obstructed the background image when it was closer to the album title. I think it is still readable, and that the cover looks good.
I did not include the album name on the back cover, this is also challenging my research, but I personally thought the page looked too full with it on there. I have included the artist's name again, but here it is more visible. But here I have also challenged the normal by putting it in the centre of the page (between the song titles). |
LayoutI kept the 3 panel structure of the Digipak the same as n my research, however instead of having the plastic CD holders, I made my Digipak lower cost, by leaving space for a pocket in the side panels (one for CD and one for leaflet maybe?). As my artist is less well known, a lower cost Digipak is more realistic. So I have developed this idea for the specific requirements of my artist.
