A2 Media Studies Project:
Includes Music Video, Website Homepage and Digipak
Project Brief
For my A2 media studies coursework I have chosen to do option 1, a music video. The two extra options I have chosen to create are:
· A website homepage for the artist.
· A cover for its release as part of a digipak.
The genre of music that I am doing is dubstep. A friend of mine who makes his own music has let me use his track to do this. The target audience for my project are young people (roughly aged between 15 and 24), as this is the group who regularly listen to this particular genre.
The stock characters that I will have in my products will be aged the same as the target audience, as this is appealing to them. I will have both males and females in the music video and on the website, as the creator of the music is male, and often uses female and male vocals in his music, so the music is not gender biased. On the digipak however I will only have a young male as commonly digipaks show the artist themselves.
For costumes, I will have the characters wearing everyday clothes, as the music genre doesn’t really specify a certain way to dress.
For props, I will need a laptop, headphones, and maybe mixing desk to show that the artist is making the music. Other prop decisions will be made later on, when more planning has been done.
I will have shots of the artist mixing his music, but maybe also have storyline shots of someone singing the vocals. . I will then also have one other storyline going on, that fits to what the song is about.
The editing will have to be fast paced to fit to the music. It will be in chronological order to make sense. I also have to make sure that the singing is synched in time to the person singing in the film, as otherwise this will look odd.
