Music Genre Survey and Results
The button above will take you to the survey.
Question 1 - AgeOnly 19 people answered my survey, and 100% of the people who answered were 16-19. As this is only a small amount of people, it is likely that the responses are biased. If I had had more responses, and from a more varied age range, the results would be a better representation. However, the people who this music genre is aimed at are usually in this age range, therefore I can use the results from the answers they give.

Question 4 - You listen to (Music Genres)Only a small proportion (approx. 42%) of the people asked, listen to Dubstep. This is not unusual, as it is a fairly new and 'alternative' genre of music. However, the results show that it is favoured to two of it's founding genres - Electro (5%) and Dance (22%). The listened to music genre seems to be 'Pop'.

Question 6 - Music listened to (per week)Approx. 37% of those asked said that they listen to over 14 hours of music in an average week. Almost 80% of people listen to at least 7 hours per week. This means that on average, the people that were asked, listen to between 1 and 2 hours of music per day.
|
Question 8 - Enjoy DubstepAlmost half of the people asked said they enjoyed Dubstep music, 5 people said they were unsure, and 5 said they did not like it. If you remove those who said 'not sure' almost 2/3 of those remaining like Dubstep music. I think this shows that a large majority of people in this age range enjoy this music genre.

Question 9 - Reason For Previous AnswerThe reasons that people gave for enjoying Dubstep music were: the good beat (140bpm rhythm), they like that it is 'loud', they like listening to it when they are out, or that they have been introduced to it by radio. The first 3 answers are not surprising as this music genre is often favoured in clubs as it makes a good 'vibe' for dancing and socialising to. The last statement, about radio, is also not surprising. As it is played a lot when people are out, they like the sound of it, the radio stations are surely seeing an increasing demand for this kind of music.
